A Florida radio host who spoke vehemently about vaccinations died of complications from COVID-19 on Friday.

Dick Farrel, of West Palm Beach, Florida, was loved by many listeners and supported his right-wing views. Farrel was also known for his thoughts on the COVID-19 vaccine, which he was averse to taking himself.

Before his death, the radio veteran made a number of comments on Facebook regarding Dr Fauci and the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Fauci, the stumbling power lie monster named in the Trump trial,” Farrel said in July. “Why take a vax promoted by people who have lied all the time about masks, where does the virus come from and the death toll?”

After contracting COVID-19, Farrel retracted a number of statements and urged them to get vaccinated, according to close friends.

A number of Farrel’s friends have offered their condolences on social media.

“COVID took one of my best friends! RIP Dick Farrel. That’s the reason I took the picture. He texted me and told me to ‘get it! “He told me this virus was no joke and he said, ‘I wish I had it!’ Close friend Amy Leigh Hair said on her Facebook page.

“I was one of the people like him who didn’t trust the vaccine. I trusted my immune system. I was just more afraid of getting COVID-19 than of any possible side effects from the vaccine. glad I got the vaccine, ”Hair told WPTV.

Lee Strasser, former general manager of the market for CBS Radio West Palm Beach, spoke about Strasser to WPTV.

“Dick was flamboyant, outrageous at times and ready to take on anything that came along,” said Strasser, who hired Farrel in the 1990s.

“He liked to engage with local politicians and didn’t make any effort. Was he always right? No …

“Did he get out of trouble? Not always. Was he great with customers? Yes,” Strasser continued. “Was he a pleasure in the building? Absolutely. Was he loyal? Unquestionably! Was he gifted? Yes sir! His passing is a great loss. He was a good-hearted person with a burden of passion, and his memory will stand the test of time.We have all lost a friend in Farrel.

In Florida, Farrel State, COVID cases are increasing rapidly. President Joe Biden recently called Gov. Ron DeSantis about his stance on mask mandates.

“And worst of all, some state officials are passing laws or signing ordinances that prohibit people from doing the right thing,” Biden said at a press conference Tuesday. “So far, seven states have not only banned mask warrants, but have also banned them in their school districts, even for young children who cannot get vaccinated.”

As of Friday, there were more than 134,500 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Florida and 175 deaths, according to the Florida Department of Health.
