Faced with his worst departure in nearly 50 years, Florida State football could do without one of its starting quarterbacks this Saturday against Louisville.
Jordan Travis missed the end of last week’s game against Wake forest with what appeared to be a shoulder injury and it’s still unclear if he’ll be ready to go this week. Head coach Mike Norvell said on Monday they should have a better idea of his availability as the week goes on.
In his press briefing after Tuesday’s training, Norvell hasn’t updated much on Travis’s status, but has confirmed that if he isn’t able to go in a red shirt, Chubba Purdy will be McKenzie Milton’s replacement.
It doesn’t matter who’s in the middle if the offensive line doesn’t improve as well.
Offensive line coach Alex Atkins said on Tuesday that they work by continuing to correct the rotations down the line and train the guys in different places to try to find the best mix of five players.
The rushed attack has always been successful week after week. Jashaun Corbin and Treshaun Ward are averaging 6.5 yards per carry this season, but that hasn’t been enough to maintain a successful offense. Ward said fixing this issue came from the whole unit getting rid of its own way.
But of course there’s a lot more to it – especially in a three touchdown loss to Wake Forest.

On Saturday, they’ll need to contain one of college football’s truest double-threat quarterbacks to Malik Cunningham, who is the playmaker for the entire Louisville offense.

A guy to watch this week is Jacques Patrick who is trying to make a name for himself in a great system. The ex-FSU signed an agreement with the 49ers, who saw a ton of running back injuries early in the season.

This weekend, Brooks Koepka and his nemesis – too strong a word? I don’t know, but I’m going with – Bryson DeChambeau will compete together for the United States team in the Ryder cup despite their ongoing quarrel. But on Tuesday, the two shared a few words of encouragement on the driving range and received cheers from the crowd. They both spoke of burying the feud for the country’s odds and Brooksy backed him up on Twitter.
