Flu-like illness is expected side effect of Covid vaccines, WHO says, with symptoms like fever and headache – RT World News

Flu-like illness is a likely side effect of inoculation against Covid-19, the World Health Organization’s global advisory committee on vaccine safety said in a statement on Monday.

The committee said the benefit / risk ratio of Covid-19 vaccines “remain favorable” after reviewing data on influenza-like illness among health workers who received the vaccine.

His review, conducted virtually on February 25, found that the vaccines could induce flu-like symptoms, including headaches, fatigue, muscle aches, fever and chills.

Side effects have been reported during the first days after inoculation in clinical trials in several countries.

“Most of the symptoms were mild to moderate and went away within a few days”, the statement said, adding that side effects were more common in those under 55.

The committee concluded that its vaccine safety advice may remain unchanged, as reports of side effects are what one would expect.

He advised people who experience headaches, fever or muscle aches after their first dose to continue to receive their booster as scheduled, and that people should be informed of potential side effects before vaccination.
