It's a way to bounce back after a tough defeat. Texas No. 12 went to NRG Stadium in Houston and did what was expected against Rice, easily winning a 48-13 victory over the Owls. Texas scored on its first four possessions of the game and led 31-0 in the half before releasing the accelerator pedal in the second half.

It was a globally effective day for the Longhorns. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger had 23 passes out of 27, totaling 279 yards and three touchdowns, while attacking halfback Keaontay Ingram added two more on the floor. In total, Texas averaged 7.3 yards per game and the defense kept the Owls out of the end zone until halfway through the fourth quarter.

It was a good game back for Texas. It is not surprising that the attack did not fail, but it was the kind of defensive performance needed to build the confidence of the group of the defensive coordinator, Todd Orlando, who had been lightly burned by the LSU attack.

Of course, no one confuses Rice's attack with that of LSU, but his coach Tom Herman will be happy to limit his opponent to 266 yards per day.
