Ford electric Bronco revealed with shocking price

The Ford Bronco is being restarted.

Not only by Ford, which has a brand new version en route next year, but also by Zero Labs, a Los Angeles-based startup builder that has turned the original Bronco into a luxury electric vehicle.

The truck looks a lot like the first generation model and is even built on an authentic frame. To this, the company adds carbon fiber body panels and an interior trimmed with bamboo, aluminum and premium leather, or a vegan substitute, if you prefer.

The old engine was replaced by a 369-hp Borg Warner electric motor powered by a 70-kilowatt-hour battery with a range of 190 km. Unusually, it sends power to the wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission rather than direct drive as do most electric cars. There is also a two-speed transfer case, lockable Currie differentials inside the axles and a suspension with adjustable Fox dampers for high performance off-road performance.

Since the need for cooling is lower, the grille has been replaced by a stylized panel with the illuminated FORD mark, although Zero Labs indicates that it is a technically modified vehicle and not an official collaboration with the brand. In total, there are more than 1,000 new parts on the truck.

The company plans to start production by the end of next year and is currently taking control of the first 150 SUVs it hopes to build. The exact price has not been announced yet, but the website suggests that it will be between $ 250,000 and $ 300,000, which is a bit higher than the new Fiord Bronco will cost to the sale, but compliant with the conventional high-end Bronco. Restomods made by outfits like Gateway Bronco and Icon.

THE NEW FORD BRONCO WILL HAVE SOMETHING THAT JEEP WRANGLER DOES NOT DO

Zero Labs has more electrified classics in the works and says it will announce the next next year.
