A former adviser to President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore said over the weekend that she would not have voted for President-elect Joe Biden if she had heard of her thoughts on the economic shutdowns linked to the coronavirus.
Naomi Wolf, an author who served as an advisor to the Clinton-Gore campaign in 1996, wrote on Twitter that the lockdowns are a “historic unprecedented practice” and “terrifying,” as Townhall first reported on Monday.
She said President-elect Biden’s openness to reinstating more lockdowns to curb the spread of the coronavirus outbreak made her ask her question to vote for him.

Biden, however, has publicly stated on several occasions that he is open to implementing additional lockdowns – adding that there should be standards governing potential lockdowns.
“If you have a reproduction rate in a community that goes over a certain level, everyone says ‘slow down’, no more social distancing, don’t open bars and don’t open gyms. Don’t open until you get a handle on it, ”Biden said during a debate with President Trump.
Trump – who has said he opposes more lockdowns – has regularly used this narrative to attack Biden throughout the campaign cycle.
During a campaign stop just before election day, Trump said a vote for Biden was “a vote for lockdowns, layoffs” and “misery.”
Biden said he would follow the advice of scientists – and engage in more shutdowns if advised to do so by experts.
As coronavirus cases increase in the United States, pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has announced promising results from its trials which have shown 90% effectiveness in preventing the virus. Yet the virus has infected more than 10 million Americans and killed at least 238,053.
