Emmanuel Acho, former NFL linebacker and Fox Sports analyst, has accepted the rose and will host “The Bachelor: After the Final Rose” next month.
Acho will host the postseason episode which airs on ABC on March 15 at 10 p.m. ET. It follows the show’s season finale starring bachelor Matt James, the first black man to play in the franchise. He played wide receiver for Wake Forest from 2011-14 and participated in the Carolina Panthers rookie minicamp in 2015.

Acho, 30, takes over from longtime “The Bachelor” franchise host Chris Harrison, who is at the center of controversy for defending a race-insensitive social media post by a candidate. Harrison announced a few weeks ago that he would “be stepping down for a period of time” and not hosting the special episode after the season finale.

Acho is the author of the 2020 bestseller, “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man”. He also hosts a series of videos of the same name featuring guests including NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
Acho takes on ‘the Bachelor’ role amid racial controversy
Harrison received a flashback after defending Rachael Kirkconnell, a show favorite who was reportedly pictured at a formal pre-war plantation-themed fraternity in 2018.
In an interview with Rachel Lindsay, correspondent for “Extra” and former star of “The Bachelorette,” Harrison said the photos were dated a long time ago. He argued that the photos weren’t very good in 2021, but “they weren’t in 2018”. He apologized for the comments.
According to an ABC statement announcing the news, Acho “will meet with single Matt James to discuss his season, final decision and current status, as well as franchise news. also with the last three women, Bri, Michelle and Rachael during the hour-long special. “
The Cleveland Browns drafted Acho in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. The linebacker didn’t play a game there in his first season in the NFL. He played 20 games in two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles before joining the television ranks.
