Former Thiago Silva offered to Chelsea as a defensive palliative

Thiago Silva still has one game to play in his career at Paris Saint-Germain, and it’s pretty big. PSG will face the winner of Bayern Munich and … [checks notes] … Olympique Lyonnais – so unless Bayern strangles harder today than May 19, 2012, it will be Bayern – in the Champions League final on Sunday.

Subsequently, the captain of PSG, who will be 36 years old next month, will recall the time on his 8-year stay in the French capital. But apparently he’s not quite ready to retire yet! In fact, he dreams of playing in England, and so his agent, who is surprisingly neither Kia Joorabchian nor Giuliano Bertolucci, is working hard to gauge interest.

His latest effort is to solicit Chelsea for an offer, as the Telegraph reports. Silva is apparently willing to take a massive pay cut only to end up in England rather than Italy, hence most of the interest so far.

Chelsea are unlikely to be more interested, but if you’re the agent it doesn’t hurt to ask. In years past we may have considered signing a good old days to add ‘experience’ and ‘winning mindset’ or whatever, but hopefully we stick to our new step of developing those qualities by internal and only spend money on the best available.
