Foster City man dies after van-train collision | News, Sports, Jobs

VULCAN – A 30-year-old Foster City man died Thursday from injuries he sustained when a train struck the van he was driving at Vulcan Wednesday afternoon.

MPs were called to the crash at 4:29 p.m. after an eastbound Canadian National Railway train collided with the southbound Ford Ranger truck at a crossing on Spruce Street near of US 2, rolling the vehicle on its roof, according to the Dickinson County Deputy Sheriff. Scott Metras.

The pickup driver was taken to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital and then transferred to UP Health System-Marquette, where he died of his injuries.

Michigan State Police accident investigators are helping the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office investigate the accident. Special constables from the National Police Service of Canada are also conducting an independent investigation.

The Norwegian Police Department, Norwegian Volunteer Fire Department, Michigan State Police and Integrity Care EMS were also at the crash site on Wednesday.
