While this remains unofficial, another strong report says the Lions are hiring Dan Campbell as the team’s head coach. This one comes from Jay Glazer, a FOX Sports insider and comes a day after several reports from NFL.com also indicated that the Lions were ready to hire Campbell once he became available.
Campbell is currently an assistant head coach and tight ends coach for the New Orleans Saints. The Saints face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night in the NFC Division Round game. The Lions can no longer contact Campbell until the Saints are eliminated from the playoffs.
Glazer made his statement on the FOX pre-game show.
The Lions this week hired Rams college scouting director Brad Holmes as general manager. He and Campbell have no clear connection. Campbell is a former NFL rapper who played for the Lions at the end of his career. He has been with the Saints since 2016.
