Mayor Spicer’s Monday Minute

  1. Mosquito spraying in the city today: East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project to spray a “reduced risk pesticide” to control mosquito populations in the city today (23 Aug). Areas to be sprayed include southern Waverly Street near Fay Road, Bethany Road, Winthrop Street, Hollis Street, Irving Street, Bates Road and the streets near Hickory Hill Lane and Jodie Road.
  2. Inspiring the Next Generation of Our Workforce – You’re invited to Community Time Tuesday at 5 p.m.: Join Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer, Citizen Participation Officer Alaa Abusalah, and Mass Hire Employment Coordinator Walter Joval to learn more about the Mayor’s Youth Internship Program, which enabled 116 young people from Framingham to explore careers in the public, private and non-profit sectors and understand new skills in real-life contexts this summer. Participants will be able to ask questions during the hour via Zoom’s chat function.   3. Rescheduling of the free movie night under the stars tomorrow, August 24: The Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back a free family movie and entertainment night, featuring “The Boss Baby” on Tuesday 24 August, at Bowditch Field. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and Family Fun Night will begin at 6 p.m. with the film to follow at dusk.
  4. Supporting Our Community: The City has granted relief on rent, mortgage and / or utility payments for up to two (2) months for households who have lost their jobs and primary income.
