The Champs-Elysées transformed into a giant cinema

Paris – For the first time, the Parisian avenue of the Champs-Elysees was transformed for a night into a giant cinema on Sunday, with the screening of the film "The Visitors" in the presence of one of its actors Jean Reno, noted an AFP journalist.
  

Lost in the corridors of time, Count Godefroy de Montmirail and his valet Jacouille the Rogue, hero of the movie " The Visitors ", found themselves in front of the Arc de Triomphe on a spectacular screen of 180 m2 in high-definition LED technology, weighing 6 tonnes, retained by a 30 m high lifting crane.

The screen was installed at the top of the famous Parisian avenue closed to traffic up to avenue George V.

On the initiative of the National Film Center (CNC) and the Committee of the Champs-Etrus Elysées, this unprecedented outdoor screening was organized on the occasion of the Cinema Festival which allows until July 4 to access all screenings in all French cinema for 4 euros per session.

In the presence of the former Minister of Culture Jack Lang, 1,700 privileged people, chosen by lot by taking part in a survey, and thousands of onlookers, attended the screening of the cult film Jean-Marie Poiré released just 25 years ago.

For this projection of cinema beyond standards, chairs were installed across the width of the avenue.

The side alleys of the Champs-Elysées offering perfect visibility on the screen, were accessible to the general public.

16,000 people in all participated in a poll to choose the movie screened Sunday night.

" The Visitors " of Jean-Marie Poiré released in theaters in 1993, was designated before " The Folly of Greatnesses " and " The Glory of My Father ", other cult films of the 7th French art.

" Okkay … ", " What is this binz? " …: the famous cult replicas of the film have again fly in front of thousands of strollers and tourists dumbfounded.

" It's amazing to be sitting on the Champs-Elysees to see a movie, I came with my godchildren aged 6 and 9. Everyone is very excited ," he said. to AFP one of the winners of the draw.

This outdoor session started with the most famous scenes of French and foreign films shot on the Champs-Élysées since the invention of the cinematograph.
