Only a week after the Casablanca national march in support of the Hirak detainees and their families, as well as the gathering of lawyers for the 52 detainees of the Rif movement at the Oukacha prison in Casablanca, the demonstrators responded to the call for a rally, held this Sunday in Rabat. Thousands were on the streets in the capital, calling for the release of the Hirak detainees and the outcry over the northern region of Morocco. A demonstration that was marked by the participation of the movement Al Adl Wal Ihsane (AWI), parties of the Federation of the Democratic Left (FGD), the Democratic Way, Attac Morocco or the Anfbad movement for democracy.

If this march proceeded normally, without clashing with the police and the police, "access to the demonstration" bans were registered by the organizers who identified "harbadment" situations. on the part of the authorities "two buses from Meknes were banned from joining Rabat this morning, as part of the participation in the support demonstration".

In a statement dated July 13, the Thafra Association for Loyalty and Solidarity, which brings together the families of the detainees of Hirak du Rif, reports that it was even denied the filing of its legal file by the Pasha of the city of Al Hoceima.

The 53 leaders of the protest movement called "Hirak" were sentenced on June 26 to harsh jail terms ranging from one year to 20 years in prison. Since the announcement of the sentences, the social networks and the civil society are indignant.

The "Hirak" movement was born in September 2016, it took off in October, when fishmonger Mohcine Fikri died in Al Hoceima, crushed in a dumpster while trying to oppose the police who threw the swordfish confiscated because they fished in the forbidden period. Over the months, the protest had taken a turn more social and political, King Mohammed VI had even dismissed some of his ministers because of the delay in implementation of the development project "Al Hoceima," Manarat Al Mutawbadit ", initiated in 2015, which foresaw the completion of 804 projects, covering several strategic sectors in the fields of health, agriculture and transportation, aimed at improving the lives of the populations of this historically marginalized region. Following this popular vindicti, the writer and poet Abdellatif Laâbi, known to have been imprisoned between 1972 and 1980 during the 'lead years' for his far-right militant positions, wrote a short text on his facebook page to support the prisoners "Rifains". Even if Nbader Zefzafi does not intend to appeal his sentence to 20 years in prison, according to an interview given by his father to the Spanish news agency EFE, many hope a possible royal pardon of the 53 detainees of 'Hirak', who could be announced in the coming weeks.
