Relatives of disappeared hoped that this official report provides information to allow them to mourn, more than four years after the greatest mystery of modern civil aviation. No trace of the aircraft was found in the 120,000 km² research area explored in the southern Indian Ocean off Australia. This maritime search was halted in January 2017.
The 400-page report, presented to relatives on Monday at a meeting at the Malaysian Ministry of Transport prior to its official publication, concludes that the investigation team is "unable to determine the true cause of the disappearance of the MH370" .
"It's so disappointing, I'm frustrated, there's nothing new" said Intan Maizura Othman, whose husband was aboard the Boeing 777, who fled slightly after taking off from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. "Many asked questions" at this meeting, said G. Subramaniam, who lost a son on the plane, but "unsatisfactory responses caused the anger of many " relatives.
