An inhabitant of the Nunavut Territory in northeastern Canada was killed by a polar bear on Tuesday protecting his children, federal police said on Wednesday.
No weapons on him. The 31-year-old man, who was unarmed, died after a polar bear attack, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement. The attack occurred Tuesday evening on an island about ten km from the city of Arviat, located on the shores of Hudson Bay, where the victim lived, the RCMP said.
