This young woman from Shaanxi Province (central China) died eight days after being bitten by a striped bongar, a very venomous species. She bought the snake on the Zhuanzhuan online platform from a seller located in the southern province of Guangdong, where the reptile is widespread.
A traditional medicinal wine
The snake was taken over by a society of delivery, who stated that he did not know what was in the package. The woman had planned to produce traditional medicinal wine, according to her mother. This drink is generally produced by letting macerate whole serpents, preferably venomous, in bottles of alcohol. The liquor thus produced is known to have a revitalizing effect.
According to the press, the reptile managed to escape after biting. He was found near the house of his victim, according to forest guards.
