The city of Tain-l'Hermitage received a bequest worth 320,000 euros from a resident who died last February, at 88 years. The money will be used to help the elderly, according to the will of the old lady.
Nice surprise for the city of Tain-l'Hermitage (Drôme). Eliette Gervat, a resident of the town who pbaded away last February at the age of 88, decided to bequeath all that she owned to her commune, reports France Bleu Drôme-Ardèche .
Without a spouse and without children, the old lady owned an apartment and a house, worth an estimated 320,000 euros. "It's really surprising that a lady makes a gesture so generous, and for one cause: the town" welcomed the first badistant, Danielle Lecomte, cited by France Bleu .
An "unprecedented" bequest
Xavier Angéli, the mayor, specified that it was a legacy "unprecedented for the city" . The sum represents three-quarters of the investments made each year by Tain-l'Hermitage.
This money will have a specific purpose, as Eliette Gervat had wished. "This lady contacted us five or six years ago, she wanted to know what we were doing for the elderly, home helpers, the carrying of meals etc. explained Danielle Lecomte. When I went to her house, she told me that she was single, that she had no descendants. (…) I offered him a legacy ". The woman elected was certainly heard beyond her expectations.
