Under iOS 13, the iPhone and iPad will be able to handle mice. It is an accessibility setting, so do not expect operation like macOS, but this possibility – expected for a long time, especially for the tablet – can however be used … except if you have a Magic Trackpad or a Magic Mouse.
The settings of iOS 13 specify indeed in letters that the magic devices of Apple are not supported (read: Apple does not want you to use its magic accessories with iOS 13). Unless they are, finally!
It is indeed possible to pair the Magic Mouse 2 (the one that recharges "from below") to an iPad or an iPhone, as discovered by the youtubeur of the chain Average Tech Guy. To do this, first lower the pairing button on the back of the mouse, and … drop the Bluetooth panel from the settings. Rendezvous rather in Accessibility > Selection control > Buttons > Bluetooth devices. Then, raise the little mouse button.
The panel should then locate the Magic Mouse and propose pairing. Bluetooth is not an exact science, so it is likely that it will take a few attempts to see the big cursor on the screen. For example, you can go back and return to the panel Bluetooth devices. In my case, I had to activate the option Selection control to finally play the mouse on the tablet …
The support of the Magic Mouse remains largely perfectible. Once back on the home screen, the cursor is the trunk, without me to use it. And the interactions are limited: only the buttons 1 and 2 of the mouse are supported (in the menu Accessibility > To touch > AssistiveTouch > devices), as for the gestures, one can make a cross on it (for the moment?). It is impossible to scroll a page, for example.
Nevertheless, it is possible to use the Magic Mouse on iOS 13 … It still remains Apple a lot of work for a complete operational support. This is even more frustrating that the support of the mouse is much better with mice of third-party manufacturers.
