" The benefit of the doubt "

Since the hardening of the penal code condemning the blasphemy, in 1986, under the dictatorship of General Zia-Ul-Haq, great architect of the Islamization of Pakistan, the accusations have multiplied in the country, at the risk of being used as a pretext to settle personal conflicts. In the case of Asia Bibi, it is a dispute that went wrong: in 2009, this agricultural employee had drunk a glbad of water from a well reserved in principle to Muslims, and was denounced by neighbors with whom his family was cold.

She was accused of insulting the Prophet. As soon as she was jailed, Asia Bibi was tried in November 2010 and sentenced to death by hanging. This mother, who claims her innocence, appealed this decision. The judges finally acquitted her on Wednesday at " the benefit of the doubt ".

" Miscarriage of justice "

"The acquittal of Asia is not only a denial of justice, but also a way of satisfying the demands of opponents of the blasphemy law, and unrestrained freedom of expression (hate) lawyers," has posted on social networks Khadim Hussain Rizvi, leader of the radical party TLP at the origin of the demonstrations. His party called for a mutiny of army officers and the badbadination of the judges responsible for the verdict.

At the beginning of the protests, Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan took a firm stand against the Islamists, warning that the state would not "Would not tolerate sabotage" and "Take responsibility" if necessary.
