For the first time in history, ECOWAS and ECCAS hold a joint summit on peace, security, radicalization and violent extremism on July 30, 2018.

This is a first meeting will mark the history of Africa as a whole. Heads of State and Government members of ECOWAS and ECCAS will be in Lome to discuss peace and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. On this occasion, a Lomé Declaration on the fight against terrorism and violent extremism will be adopted.

The Heads of State and Government of WAEMU member countries will also meet in ordinary session to consider, among others, the report on the state of the Union, the note on the state of convergence in the member states, as well as the state of implementation of the high-level projects. It will also discuss the review of the West African sub-region.

Note that CEEAC includes 11 countries: Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, DRC, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Chad, Sao Tome and Rwanda

On the sidelines of these summits, a road map will be put in place for the end of the crisis in Togo, the country of the current President-in-Office of ECOWAS
