For the third year in a row, eighty monuments have joined forces to share their best shots. Internet users are invited to do the same. The theme of the 2018 edition is gastronomy. A day that will end with a competition of famous instagrammers.
In 2017, 1,000 billion photos were immortalized with smartphones around the world. On average, owners of a mobile phone take five pictures a day. And this number increases when visiting a castle or museum. It is with the aim of being able to gather these clichés and to share them with the greatest number that eighty monuments of Europe badociated themselves three years ago to launch the "Palace Day".

The principle? On July 19, thirteen countries across the Old Continent unite to spread their "collective history", says Hélène Dalifard of the Palace of Versailles. Germany, Poland, Belgium, Italy … The participants of the game mobilize on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. The official accounts of monuments, private or public, royal residences or museums, launch the day by publishing one or more photos with the hashtag #Palaceday. Internet users must then follow the movement by sharing their own images. This year, the theme is gastronomy and culinary heritage in castles and their gardens.
"We want to federate as many people as possible"
"The idea was born within the network of European Royal Residences, details Hélène Dalifard. The goal is to unite as many people as possible. "In 2017, seventy monuments and one million Internet users participated in the experiment. Europe's museums and castles attract more than thirty-five million visitors every year who are used to taking photos with their smartphones. The day will be punctuated on Thursday by various battles on the networks: one on the fruits, one on the royal table and another whose theme remains dry which will be launched at the end of the day. Stéphane Bern should be the first to start the movement at eight in the morning.

The Palace Day will close around a« Instameet ", a meeting of a dozen instagrammers in different places but at the same time. At 6 pm, ten castles will host this event, including the Royal Castle of Warsaw (Poland), Schönbrunn (Austria), Reggia di Caserta (Italy) and Versailles in France. The blogger Gérard Trang and his 213,000 subscribers (Superchinois801), Hugues de la Flèche (Artamir_78) whose account is invaded by photographs of the castle of Louis XIV and the painter Lucille Clerc (Lucille_clerc) have been invited.
"We will take them to places that are emblematic of gastronomy and they will have to look for details related to the theme, whether in ceilings or paintings," reveals Hélène Dalifard. They will then post their photos on the social network. The most beautiful should receive a reward, but nothing is yet established. The pleasure remains here to admire, share and (make) enjoy these historical scenery.
