San Francisco – Singer Patti Smith will headline a charity concert to help fight global warming in San Francisco in September, organizers of the event said Wednesday.

The concert will close, on September 14, a three-day " summit " on the climate between local leaders, meeting at the initiative of the governor of California Jerry Brown while the American president Donald Trump in the face of global efforts to curb rising temperatures.

Punk godmother Patti Smith, 71, has played in recent years in many charity concerts. She will share the San Francisco poster with Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir and Red Hot Chili Peppers bbadist Flea.

Other names include French singer Imany and Tibetan activist and musician Tenzin Choegyal.

" In the world of music, the best way to move forward is to collaborate, and so does the critical issue of climate change ," said Patti Smith's daughter, Jesse Paris Smith, engaged musician too.

" We must come together to make it the most ambitious collaboration of the century ," she added.

The concert will be used to collect donations for organizations working against global warming and for the United Nations development program.

Three other concerts of the same type have already taken place as part of " Pathway to Paris ", a project launched by several artists ahead of the 2015 Paris Conference on Climate Change.

Shortly after his election, Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris climate agreement, calling him " unjust " for his country's industry.
