The head of the Tunisian government announced on Wednesday (July 25th) that he will go before the Assembly of People's Representatives, the Tunisian Parliament, before the end of this week, to have their confidence in his government following the series of calls for his departure. He had previously announced the appointment of a new interior minister, a vacant post since the July 9, 2018 bombing that killed six security force members. This appointment appears as an additional sign of distrust.

Supported by the Islamist movement Ennahdha, second party of the ruling coalition and victor in the last municipal Youssef Chahed said that Ennahdha is not the only party that will support it in the Tunisian Parliament. He badured, in statements to the Tunisian press, that other parties in Parliament are not in favor of his departure from the Kasbah, seat of the Prime Minister.

The Tunisian Prime Minister urged all those who ask him to leave, not to expose the interests of the state to danger, and to take into account the next deadlines and commitments of the government. Essentially the social negotiations, the mission of the International Monetary Fund next August, and the next finance law next October.

For several weeks, a showdown between Youssef Chahed and the ruling party Nidaa Tounes , the formation from which he comes. Nothing was better between him and Hafedh Caid Essebsi, the president's son. Both do not hide their ambitions to run for president in 2019. But the crisis took another dimension last week, when President Béji Caid Essebsi rallied his son's demands by demanding the resignation of the government

Youssef Chahed had only two choices: to resign, or to go before the parliamentarians to have their confidence, that is what he promises to do before Friday.

The General Union of Work in Tunisia (UGTT) that is against the government's social economic policy says the ball is now in the Parliament's camp.
