Franchise deadline is approaching for bears

The clock is ticking for the Chicago Bears. They have until 3:00 p.m. CST Tuesday to place the franchise tag on WR Allen Robinson.

Robinson and his side have made it clear what they think about the lack of a contract extension. The whole saga began in September when the star receiver removed everything about the Bears from his social media. However, the Bears themselves have repeatedly said how much they value Robinson and how valuable he is to the team. Nevertheless, almost six months later, the stalemate persists.

Conflicting reports suggest that nothing has changed in the saga. They are not closer or further apart on a new agreement. Which leaves only one option if Robinson will dress for the Bears next year, the dreaded franchise label.

If the Bears were to cross the Allen Robinson mark, it would cost $ 18 million fully guaranteed. A Bears / Robinson reunion leaves one less void on the list to fear. As it stands, aside from Robinson, the only other reliable wide receiver currently on the list is Darnell Mooney.

However, if the Bears let Robinson hit the market, it would free up $ 18 million to use elsewhere on the roster. In order to replace Robinson, the team will either have to dive into the market for another receiver or draft one. To be honest, they could do both.
