Free COVID-19 vaccination clinic opens in McLennan County this week

WACO, Texas (KWTX) – The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District is running a free, appointment-only vaccination clinic for people eligible for Phases 1A and 1B Wednesday and Thursday next week.

The McLennan County Health District received an allocation of 1,500 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine as part of the state immunization center program.

Supply continues to be severely limited, but the health district expects to receive additional shipments of vaccine in the coming weeks and is ready to host more immunization clinics to meet the needs of the community.

The vaccination clinic is by appointment only for those in phases 1A and 1B and is scheduled for Wednesday January 20 and Thursday January 21 at the Waco Convention Center.

The clinic will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and walk-in visits will not be accepted.

The health district has two registration periods available for this clinic in order to provide better community access to registration.

Registration is available on Sunday January 17 at 1:30 p.m. and Monday January 18 at 10:30 a.m.

The call center and online registration portal will close each day once the registration windows are full.

The health district recalls that phase 1A includes frontline health workers, first responders and last responders and phase 1B includes people 65 years and over or people 16 years and over with a problem disease that increases the risk of serious illness from COVID-19. .

This clinic will offer the Moderna vaccine, which is only available to people over 18 years of age.
