After the COVID-19 pandemic arrived and the world was locked out, production on the special was halted on March 18, along with all other films / shows.
Coming soon: The reunion was originally supposed to start in May 2020 as part of the HBO Max launch, but it was pushed due to COVID and Perry recently tweeted that they would finally be filming in March
HBO Max announced in April that the show would not be filmed in time for its debut on the streaming service’s launch date.
The sit-down special was pushed back to a movie date in August 2020.
