From Mirror staff reports

The torchlight orienteering will be held at Charles W. Longer Elementary School, Hollidaysburg this evening, Friday October 8th. The event, a PTO fundraiser, will take place rain or shine and is open to all ages.

Check-in will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $ 10 per team and includes a set of equipment. The recommended team size is 2 to 4 people.

Teams will use a flashlight and follow a map to find all the checkpoints in the correct order to complete the course. Team progress is timed so teams can race the event or take their time.

Teams can choose from three courses: Easy, Challenge, or Advanced. Instructions, a map and a device that records checkpoints and tracks time will be given to each team.

Participants must bring some form of identification, such as a driver’s license, school ID, or other photo ID; a face mask; flashlight, headlamp, lantern, hand-held projector, flashlight on a mobile phone and / or light sticks for children; closed shoes; and bottled water if you wish.

Primary school students must be accompanied by an adult. A mask must be worn at the registration and arrival table.

Course checkpoints are spread across the grounds of CW Longer and the high school buildings, although there is no access to the buildings.

All proceeds go to CWL students.
