Brian Laundrie’s attorney canceled a press conference that was scheduled for Tuesday after speaking with the FBI, Fox News has learned.
Laundrie, 23, is the boyfriend of Gabby Petito, the missing Florida woman whose body was possibly discovered in Wyoming on Sunday.
A New York Post reporter, citing the lawyer, tweeted that the press conference was not called off at the request of the FBI but rather because he said it was not in the “best interest” of its customers.
He was named person of interest in the case. His family told police they had not seen him since last Tuesday.
The autopsy of the remains found during the investigation is expected to be completed on Tuesday, which could confirm that the body belonged to Petito.

An apparent stone memorial has been discovered near where Gabby Petito’s probable remains were found by authorities, according to a report.
A cross made of boulders was seen on the ground in the area of the scattered Spread Creek camping area in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, where the body was also found, according to KSTU-TV.
It is not known who placed him there, according to the station.
Petito’s family reported his disappearance on September 11, weeks after his last conversation with his mother in late August.
The camping area had reopened after the body was found and investigators left the scene, the report added.

Grand Teton County, Wyoming, Coroner Brent Blue confirmed to Fox News Monday that an autopsy of the remains found in the Bridger-Teton National Forest on Sunday would be completed on Tuesday.
The body found in the scattered Moran Vista camping area in Moose, Wyoming, matched a description by Gabby Petito, the FBI said on Sunday, adding that the remains matched the description of the missing woman while the search for her fiancé was intensifying.
No other information about the body, such as the physical condition of the remains found, has been released. The 22-year-old blogger was one of three people missing near Grand Teton National Park this summer.
