Galaxy S20 green screen issue plagues some units

The Samsung Galaxy S20 series was overpriced at the worst time, but the three devices were the ones we liked the most. However, it looks like the weather isn’t good as more than a few Galaxy S20 owners report that their screen is turning green, leaving the phone unusable.

One issue that seems to primarily affect the Galaxy S20 + and Galaxy S20 Ultra is seeing the display fail in a major way, leaving the entire panel with a green tint that won’t show what is supposed to be on the screen. The “green screen of death”, as Android Police calls it, either displays the entire screen in a vibrant green color or lines that cross the panel. This can be seen in action in the video below.

While issues like these aren’t that big of a deal if caught early, the problem is, this problem seems to arise almost a year and a half after the device was released to the market. For many users, this means that the warranties have expired and it becomes more difficult and expensive to resolve the issue.

Apparently, the problem first appeared around May of this year, but continued to appear over the following months. Samsung has yet to officially comment on the issue, although a forum moderator has offered the possible solution of restarting in safe mode. Apparently it didn’t help.
