Game of Thrones fans in China make anger flee after Tencent delays the final episode

"We are sorry, but due to a media transmission problem, episode 6 can not be downloaded on schedule." The same goes for a message about the dedication of Chinese giant Tencent Game of thrones page, where Chinese fans gathered this morning in hopes of seeing the conclusion of the eighth and final season of the epic HBO show.

Tencent had promised that the episodes would be broadcast every Monday at 9:00 in China while the hit series ended in the United States, but in the evening, the finale still had not appeared. The agreement had already been controversial after the first 6-minute episode in China, but at least the country's viewers could see it. Now, the "delay" has left Chinese fans feeling completely helpless, many turning against Tencent on social networks, while trying to dodge the spoilers.

It's unclear exactly what caused the "delay", although some fanatical fans of GoT feared that the latest episode would never be one of the main streaming services in China. (It's not that it would necessarily totally deprive Chinese fans, many pirated versions of the show circulate online, as we noted in the article cited above.)

The reception of Tencent's announcement was not welcoming on Chinese social networks.
