While the GOT still retains an overall rating of 91% on rotten tomatoes, the eighth season only accounts for 71%. The three episodes before the final, The Long Night, The Last of the Starks and The Bells all scored the worst in eight years.
Viewers complained about the latest episodes that destroyed years of character development, containing hasty intrigues and poor writing. We even saw fans misusing Google's algorithms to associate the search term 'bad writers' to pictures of the creators of the series.
The organizer of the Change.org petition thinks that the problem comes from the fact that the show has passed the books of George R.R. Martin. "David Benioff and D.B. Weiss proved that they were terribly incompetent writers when they have no source documents (that is, books) to turn to," they say.
"This series deserves a last season that makes sense, please submit my expectations and make it happen, HBO!" Despite the negativity, a record number of people are watching the last season. HBO said The Bells had attracted 18.4 million viewers on all platforms.
Everyone does not like the latest episodes, of course; many viewers benefit. Stephen King is a famous advocate who partly explains that people do not want an end.
