Game of Thrones Kit Harington on the past battle with alcoholism and suicidal thoughts

Kit Harington bravely spoke about surviving alcoholism and depression in a candid interview with The Sunday Times this week.

The actor, 34, who gained worldwide fame for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, said he “had been through some pretty horrible things” in the years after the drama series ended. fantastic in 2019.

Kit, who has been sober for two and a half years after a stint in rehab, revealed that while he is now “very happy” and “content,” he has already struggled with suicidal thoughts.

“The things that have happened to me since the end of Thrones, and that happened during Thrones, were quite traumatic in nature and included alcohol,” he revealed.

When asked by the post if he had ever considered killing himself, Kit reportedly hesitated before saying, “The answer is yes. Yes of course. I went through periods of real depression where I wanted to do all of it. kinds of things.

Kit said he hopes his comments will help others who are suffering and has admitted to being very “secretive” about his addictions.

“I will say about my addictions that I kept them very, very quiet and I was incredibly secretive and incredibly locked up with them,” he confessed.

Now sober, Kit relishes fatherhood and her marriage to Game of Thrones actress Rose Leslie, 34.

The couple married in 2018 and welcomed their first child, a boy, in February this year.

Kit gave rare insight into fatherhood in a recent interview with Access Hollywood.

The star admitted he didn’t understand how big the journey through fatherhood was until he launched himself.

He said: “Everyone says, ‘Look, it’s huge what you’re about to go through. “You have no way of knowing until this happens.

“Every day I wake up and take care of this little human and now we are part of a unit together.

“I think what surprises me the most about fatherhood is that the three of you are now a unit, and that’s a whole new dynamic that you have to find.”

Kit added, “I find pretty much everyday as he grows and changes, how does that change you?” It’s a beautiful thing, really.

Kit and Rose confirmed the arrival of their baby boy in February but did not reveal his name.
