Gayle King says ‘nothing is off limits’ for Oprah’s interview with Meghan and Harry

Gayle King revealed Tuesday on “CBS This Morning” that “nothing is off limits” in Oprah Winfrey’s upcoming interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

“I know she’s been working on issues all weekend long,” the morning show host said of getting Winfrey ready for her prime-time special with The Duke and the Duchess of Sussex.

“I am told that nothing is forbidden, nothing is forbidden. She can ask for anything she wants, ”King added. “A lot of people wanted this interview. I’m so glad we have it. I am very curious.”

The 90-minute interview, aptly dubbed “Oprah with Meghan and Harry,” will air on March 7 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.

Winfrey will first speak with Meghan “in a high-profile interview, covering everything from coming into Royal’s life, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she manages life under intense public pressure,” according to a CBS release shared with HuffPost earlier this week.

The Duke will later join the special to discuss the couple’s “relocation to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their growing family.”

The interview will be the first for Meghan and Harry since they announced last year that they were stepping down as active members of the Royal Family, becoming financially independent and moving to North America.

Winfrey’s special offer is particularly timely as Harry and Meghan announced on Sunday via a spokesperson that they were expecting their second child.

That Winfrey landed this major interview is not surprising. The media mogul was a guest at the Duke and Duchess’s nuptials on May 19, 2018. She’s working on an Apple TV + Mental Health series with Harry and recently promoted one of Meghan’s first public investments on her Instagram account.

Winfrey and King also spoke out in favor of the couple’s decision to step down as active royals soon after their announcement.

As well as covering their wedding, King has her own connection to Harry and Meghan: she attended the Duchess’ baby shower in New York City before the birth of the couple’s first child, Archie, in 2019.
