George Clooney says politics is not in his future and he has a totally understandable reason. (Watch the video below.)
While other prominent Hollywood men Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Matthew McConaughey flirted with running for office, BBC talk show host Andrew Marr asked Clooney if he thought about it.
“No, because I would really like to have a good life,” Clooney said in an interview that aired Sunday.
The Oscar winner has said he wants to play basketball and do the other things he loves while he can.
“I turned 60 this year and I had a conversation with my wife (…) and I said that we have to consider these years as happy years”, he explained.
“But in 20 years, I’ll be 80 and that’s a real number,” Clooney continued. “It doesn’t matter how much you exercise, it doesn’t matter what you eat. You are 80 years old and so I said we have to make sure we enjoy and live those years in the best possible way.
The director of “The Tender Bar” is not afraid to comment on politics, however. Earlier in the conversation, he said former President Donald Trump “will remain a factor for a while.”
“There is a lot that needs to be fixed, there is a lot of healing that needs to happen, and it’s going to take time,” he said.
Clooney also recalled a previous Trump who was “just that jerk.”
“I knew him before he was president,” Clooney said. “He was just a guy chasing girls. Every time you went out he would say, “What’s that girl’s name?” That’s all he was.
Trump, of course, is one of the many entertainment industry figures who have made the leap into politics.
