FULTON SOUTH COUNTY, Ga. "A rapper was having lunch at Cracker Barrel when thieves stole nearly $ 500,000 in jewelry and cash in his custom car," he told police.

According to Fairburn police, Adolph Thornton, the Memphis rapper known as "Young Dolph", was at Cracker Barrel on Senoia Road in Fairburn just before noon Wednesday.

Police said that Thornton and another man were eating when employees told him that someone had entered his sport utility vehicle camouflaged in the parking lot.

The police had questions about what had happened.

"It was unusual in many ways," said Deputy Chief of Police Anthony Bazydlo at Canal 2 Berndt Petersen. "First, we see the suspects in the video, they go to that vehicle three times in a row."

STORIES TRENDS:

Bazydlo showed Petersen the surveillance video taken from the nearby QuickTrip. Investigators testified that the first time the robbers approached the truck, they may have entered the off-road vehicle without entering.

The video shows the suspects moving away and coming back twice more. It was the third time they came in through the window.

"The officer's report indicates that it appeared that the suspect had entered the vehicle on the passenger side," Bazydlo said.

That's what Thornton told the police. The rapper stated that his driver's side window was damaged and the following items were stolen:

  • Diamond chain valued at approximately $ 27,000
  • Another channel valued at approximately $ 57,000
  • Richard Mille watch worth approximately $ 230,000
  • Patek Philippe watch worth approximately $ 85,000
  • Cartier sunglasses worth $ 24,000
  • Cartier sunglasses worth $ 700
  • Glock Gun
  • Pirelli backpack with an approximate value of $ 300
  • Apple Macbook worth $ 3,000
  • Apple Ipad worth $ 500
  • Apple Airpods worth $ 200

Thornton said it would cost about $ 700 to replace his window.

Bazydlo said the investigators are puzzled over what happened after Young Dolph's first outing of his truck. They say the taillights flashed and turned on and in the next two minutes they blinked twice more.

"It's interesting for us in terms of what was happening with the vehicle," Bazydlo said. "Was it locked? Unlocked involuntarily? We do not know."

The young Dolph posted on Instagram this week that he would give one of his other custom cars to a fan who makes the best video of a contest featuring his music.

The rapper born in Memphis has worked with Atlanta artists including Migos, Gucci Mane and Lil Yachty.

Petersen reached out to Thornton, but had no answer.
