Georgia’s main highway closed after truck crash caused bridge to move 6 feet – WSB-TV Channel 2

TREUTLEN COUNTY, Georgia – A major highway in Georgia is closed after a truck moves a six-foot bridge.

The Georgia Department of Transportation said Interstate 16 is completely closed from Exit 71 to Exit 78 in Treutlen County.

A truck struck the Georgia 86 Bridge and displaced it.

Engineers are on site to assess a fix. There is currently no deadline for reopening the bridge.

Westbound drivers can take Exit 78, turn right on Highway 221 North, left on US 80 West, through Adrian Town, left on State Route 15 and re-enter I- 16 at exit 71.

Eastbound drivers can take Exit 71, turn right on Hwy 15 through Soperton, left on State Route 46, left on State Route 56 and re-enter I-16 at the exit 78.
