Again, at the very beginning of the Pina Bausch dance theater

The director of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Adolphe Binder, who resigned without notice, rejected the criticism of her work. The Advisory Council's decision to release her from office with immediate effect "does not serve the future of dance-theater," wrote Binder in a letter published Saturday. The allegations against her by management were "indefensible and do not warrant termination". The artistic and commercial success of the dance theater seems to have played no part in the decision to reject it.

The advisory council – the theater's board of directors – had decided to break with Binder in response to the prosecution's arguments on Friday. This was "unfortunately necessary to restore the ability to act," said the Advisory Board. Binder was also charged with misconduct and intimidation. Until now, the dance theater has not yet a game plan for next season. The Advisory Council noted that management expected to present the Board no later than September

The Board of Directors has established a game plan established for several months, indicated Mr. Binder. The 49-year-old criticized the fact that Dirk Hesse, who had left the company at the end of the year, had immediately refused to accept the newly created artistic direction and to involve it in decision-making processes. For months, the city and management had demanded a termination of the contract from her. However, she wanted to continue her work with the "big ensemble and for the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch" and therefore did not go into that, she explained.
