When it comes to losing weight, people often go to their routine without thinking too much about their daily habits. As a result, losing weight becomes a difficult task.

Kompas.com compiled a list of five habits to avoid when trying to lose weight, as suggested by certified nutritionist Daryl Gioffre

1. Exercise without eating healthily

Eating healthy is just as important as doing exercise. That's what it means to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Exercise provides benefits for our metabolism, positivity and immune system. Plus, it encourages improvement in other aspects of our routine, such as our diet.

Gioffre suggests avoiding foods containing a lot of sugar and refined carbohydrates. They contain fats that increase inflammation, exhaustion and laziness.

2. Eat more than six times a day

Eating every two hours causes the body to stimulate the release of insulin to reduce the level of sugar in the blood. However, insulin is known to retain fat and is the main trigger of chronic inflammation.

Chronic inflammation not only causes fatigue, but also reduces the body's metabolic abilities and makes the body vulnerable to heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Gioffre advises to eat three large meals a day with sufficient intervals between each meal

3. Practicing a tight diet

Often, people deliberately skip lunch and dinner in order to consume a lot of calories during dinner. However, according to Gioffre, this is not a habit to follow. A diet too tight every day actually slows the metabolic processes of the body and makes weight loss more difficult.

A diet as mentioned above is different from what is called intermittent fasting, where a typical number of calories is taken daily, but only for a short period of time. For example, every day, we fasted eight hours. In those hours, the body consumes all the glucose for energy before switching to fat. In addition, the insulin level remains low, forcing the body to use body fat as fuel.

4. Completely avoiding fat

Contrary to popular belief, our body needs fat to lose weight. Fat allows people to resist the urge to eat and increase the body's metabolism.

Gioffre recommends eating at least seven to ten servings of healthy fat a day. Foods like avocados, almonds and macadamia nuts are perfect examples of healthy fats. Avoid using vegetable oil, but opt instead for olive oil, coconut oil or avocado oil.

5. Consume products labeled as "diet"

Do not be fooled by products labeled "diet", "low carbo" or "fat free". These products replace sugar with artificial sweeteners that increase our appetite and hunger. 19659005] In addition, sugar and sodium are used to add flavor but make the product less healthy. Therefore, always choose unprocessed foods or products with minimal treatment. (anm / wng)
