Stakeholders in the health sector have been called upon to scale up their campaigns to ensure early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment in the fight against bad cancer.
Dr. Edmond Der, Lecturer in the Department of Pathology at the University for Development Studies (UDS), said stakeholders must pool resources and knowledge to raise public awareness about the devastating effects of bad cancer.
He said it would encourage and improve public responsiveness Different health facilities to provide early diagnosis for early bad cancer treatment to save lives.
Dr. Der was speaking at a public conference on bad cancer in Tamale under the theme: "Breast cancer among women and men He said that the baseline survey data from June 2011 to June 2016 showed a total number of 715 bad cancer cases in northern Ghana. "
534 (74.7 percent) women, 181 (25.3 percent) men as well as 143 annual incidence recorded.
He said "about 32.2 percent of all bad cancer cases diagnosed in the period of June, 2011 and June 2016 were people under 40 years old and once the person has less than 40 years, the result of the treatment is mediocre. "
Dr. Der says that the three northern regions have seen an increase in cases of cancer incidence. efforts are being made, including awareness raising and the badignment of specialists, surgeons and health practitioners in the region.
He emphasized the need to intensify bad cancer awareness efforts in the three northern regions. He urged the public to abandon some old-fashioned practices and beliefs about the various ways to contract bad cancer as well as ways to use traditional forms of treatment by adding that "early detection ensures early treatment. "
