Give Eivor a sophisticated new hairstyle with this Assassin’s Creed Valhalla mod • Eurogamer.net

The world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is filled with varied and extravagant hairstyles – unless you’re Eivor, in which case most of them are off limits. Valhalla offers you a fairly small selection of Viking-approved haircuts that you can unlock and purchase as you expand your colony, and even if you want to try Anglo-Saxon styles inspired by your time in England, you’re normally stuck with your hairstyles. Nordic. So far, that is, the inevitable customization mod has arrived.

Made by hypermorphic, who previously created a similar mod for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Eivor Customiser is a PC mod that gives you access to a wide range of Valhalla NPC hairstyles. There are even a few Odyssey haircuts in there, if you want to run like a Viking version of Kassandra.

You can also play around with a range of hair colors and hairstyle variations. And yes, a hot dip pink is available if you like. Stranger things are happening in Valhalla.

On top of that, there are also options to change Eivor’s body proportions, so if your Viking wasn’t smart enough for your tastes, you can inflate them using this method. Or give them a long neck, whatever you choose.

It’s not a look I would personally go with, but it can be done.

To install this mod you will need to download Forger patch manager, which will automatically create its own folder in your Valhalla game directory (just make sure to set the game location as ACValhalla.exe rather than ACValhalla_plus.exe in Forger). You will then need to move the .forger2 files from the Eivor Customiser mod to the ForgerPatches folder in the Valhalla game directory. At this point, you can open Forge and select the changes you want to make.

As hypermorphic mentions in the Eivor Customizer mod notes, these hairstyles were never meant to be worn on Eivor, so longer haircuts can clip well into your clothes. To prevent this from happening, you can make certain clothes invisible in the game, like I did for the Kassandra haircut. NPC haircuts are also not of the same quality as those designed explicitly for Eivor, so you may encounter slightly floaty physique and weird scalps.

I found the mod only replaced the color of Eivor’s classic blonde haircut, so I recommend heading to the Ravensthorpe tattoo shop if you want to play around with your looks. The process of changing hairstyles can also take a bit of time, as you will have to quit the game to use Forge whenever you want to try out a new hairstyle. For this reason, it’s worth checking out the preview images on the mod page before trying them out.

The mod seems to be appealing to gamers already, and hypermorphic has said he will consider introducing beard options next. A few gamers have requested that tattoos or weapons be added afterwards – although Ubisoft may not be entirely happy with that, given that they are currently selling these customization options in their store. However, you need to do everything you can to install this mod and make everything work, so hopefully Ubi will close his eyes.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft also rolled out a patch today that brought new performance options for Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5, along with welcome quality of life changes.
