A gigantic asteroid is expected to be in close proximity to Earth this week.
The asteroid is said to have a diameter of 0.51 km – the same as San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge – and will pass within 4,302,775 km of Earth.
It is also said to be the same height as the tallest building in the world, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, which stands over 800 meters tall.
NASA defines asteroids as “ rocky, airless remnants left over from the early formation of our solar system about 4.6 billion years ago ” and states that about 1,031,488 of them to date.
This particular asteroid was first discovered by scientists in New Mexico on November 29, 2000, and have been following it ever since.
Asteroid 153201 2000 WO107 is expected to approach Earth on Sunday, November 29 at 10:09 a.m. GMT and is moving at around 56,000 mph. Now try to hit those speeds, Lewis Hamilton.

It is also classified as an Apollo asteroid because it will collide with Earth’s orbit as it passes through space.
Despite being classified as an NEA – aside from being absolutely huge – astronomers will unfortunately not be able to spot asteroid 153201 2000 WO107 from Earth.
Although it is said that there is no chance that the asteroid will actually hit our planet, as it is classified as an NEA, NASA is apparently still implementing its National Near-Earth Object Preparedness Strategy and Plan to worst case action, reported The Express.
