Good question: can I get the flu and COVID shots at the same time?

Brennan Somers of News10NBC spoke to Melissa Bronstein, senior director of infection prevention at Rochester Regional Health.

“Vaccines are very specific to the virus and the covid virus is different from the influenza virus so yes I would say getting the flu shot this year with your COVID vaccination is even more important than it was last year. “said Bronstein. “Why? There are still places where we don’t systematically hide people are tired of doing anything that will protect us from the flu and COVID.”

Well when we got the first COVID vaccines, the CDC told everyone to take them alone, two weeks apart from other vaccines. This was only a precaution, as the CDC later removed this recommendation.

“We gathered more information than we knew we could safely combine the vaccines and still get good benefits from the COVID vaccine as well as another vaccination and I suspect that would be true for the boosters,” Bronstein said .
