Google Calendar puts more emphasis on "hours of work"

A place where Google has promoted digital wellness and work-life balance is featured in Google Calendar. The "Hours of Work" feature is now more important, proactive and enabled by default.

The Google Calendar Work Hours feature lets you set the hours you are available each day. When scheduling a meeting in the app, Google now rates the hours of other guests in the calendar grid.

The new features will make it easier for colleagues to see when it's best to work with you. This can help reduce round trips when you find the right time for a meeting and make sure meetings are scheduled at convenient and productive times for all participants.

Calendar will also provide an alert notification when you schedule an event outside of the working hours of one of your guests. The "Some people can opt-out" warning prompt appears after the confirmation of Gmail notifications and notes the hours concerned. Elsewhere, it is marked by a purple briefcase icon marked "Outside working hours".

The latest update sees Work Hours enabled by default for all users. During the first activation, Google displays an estimate of your working hours based on previous appointments.

"Got it" confirms with possible changes in the settings when you use Agenda on the Web. Users can also disable the feature entirely. This feature for all G Suite editions begins to be used today and will be fully available at the end of the month.
