Google TV allows you to “hide” shows from “Continue Watching”

Android TV is expected to receive even more features from Google TV in the near future, but the reverse is now also expected. The Google TV “Keep Watching” carousel will soon allow you to “Hide” content.

“Keep Watching” is a very convenient way to go back to what you were watching before. Movies and TV shows from different apps are shown here with a cover image and progress bar. At I / O, Google explained how over 100 major app partners support the WatchNext API and that this results in about a 30% increase in re-engagement.

On the new Chromecast and presumably supported Sony TVs, Google TV begins rolling out a new ‘Hide’ action for the Continue Watching row which is available by long pressing a card with the center button on your remote. Previously, this only featured “Open”, this feature is not yet widely deployed. It’s not live on three devices we checked this afternoon.

Android TV already has this feature – as a pop-up – but it wasn’t available on Google TV until now. As the Reddit user who spotted it today echoed, this is useful when the carousel is not getting rid of completed programs, as well as removing other content on shared screens.
