Governor Cuomo briefs New Yorkers on state immunization schedule

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today briefed New Yorkers on the state’s immunization program. As of 11 a.m. today, New York City healthcare distribution sites have administered 93% of the first doses delivered so far. The federal government week 10 allocation has been delayed due to winter storms affecting much of the country, but deliveries for the remaining week 10 are arriving today and over the next few days. The week 11 allowance will start arriving mid-week.

“New York has an extensive network of vaccine providers to ensure every eligible New Yorker has access to the vaccine, including community mass immunization, like the one I visited at Medgar Evers College in the heart of Brooklyn today. ‘hui “, Governor Cuomo said. “These targeted sites improve access and bring the vaccine directly to the black, brown and poor communities that have been hit hardest by the pandemic. About 10 million New Yorkers are currently eligible to receive the vaccine. New York’s vast distribution network and large population of eligible individuals still far outweigh supply from the federal government. Due to the limited supply, New Yorkers are encouraged to remain patient and are advised not to show up to walk-in vaccination sites.

The “Am I Eligible” screening tool has been updated for people with co-morbidities and underlying conditions, with new appointments being released on an ongoing basis over the coming weeks. From next week, local health services will also receive vaccine allocations for these people. New Yorkers can use the following to show they are eligible:

• Letter from doctor, or
• Medical information demonstrating the comorbidity, or
• Signed certification

Immunization schedule numbers below are for doses distributed and delivered to New York City for the state immunization program, and do not include those reserved for the federal long-term care program. A breakdown of the data based on numbers released to New York State at 11 a.m. today is as follows. Beginning in week 9, the total allocation includes some vaccine dose surpluses that have been reallocated from the federal long-term care facility program. The allowance totals below include 60% of the week 10 allowance.

To date, New York health care distribution sites have administered 93% of the first doses received from the federal government, but due to the limited allocation from the federal government, appointments have filled up quickly. New Yorkers looking to determine eligibility and schedule an appointment at a state-run mass vaccination site can visit the “Am I Eligible” website. New Yorkers can also call their local health department, pharmacy, doctor, or hospital for additional information and to schedule appointments where vaccines are available.

The COVID-19 Vaccine Tracking Dashboard is available to notify New Yorkers of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution. New York State Department of Health requires immunization centers to report all COVID-19 vaccine administration data within 24 hours; Vaccine administration data on the dashboard is updated daily to reflect the most up-to-date metrics of the state’s immunization effort.

New Yorkers who suspect fraud in the vaccine distribution process can now call 833-VAX-SCAM (833-829-7226) toll-free or email the State Department of Health at [email protected]. Hotline staff will route complaints to the appropriate investigative agencies to ensure New Yorkers are not exploited as the state strives to vaccinate all eligible population.
