The Greek police force has opened an investigation into a case of promoting and selling pharmaceuticals and illicit preparations via the Internet as part of the "Pangea XI" international operation.
A person, a Greek citizen, was arrested in the case of the subject of an infringement of the law "on the marketing of pharmaceuticals, dietary and cosmetic in general" Ministerial Decision on Medicines for Human Use, for example. "Falsification of food" and "amateur and professional sport and other provisions".
The investigation into this case began after complaints were filed with the prosecutor's office responsible for electronic crime, an online store site and social networking sites via which many drugs and illegal preparations were announced, promoted and sold.
An online survey revealed that the sites in question were operating and the data were brought to the attention of the Athens prosecutor's office, which ordered a preliminary examination.
The investigation allowed to identify the apprehended person. In an investigation conducted at his home on Tuesday, October 30, an episode of the Criminal Prosecution Division related to electronic crime revealed and seized:
- 1,451 tablets – tablets of various pharmaceutical preparations,
- six formulations in gel form,
- five products with impregnated patch,
- 14 tablets of anabolic,
- a number of documents relating to the proof of delivery of a parcel with a total value of about EUR 4,500,
- a number of empty packaging of various pharmaceutical products and preparations,
- many documents and handwritten notes,
- 840 euros and
- mobile phone with two SIM cards.
A sample of preparations and seized products was sent to the National Drug Agency (EOF) for further laboratory testing, while the amount seized would be sent to the Deposits and Loans Fund.
The seized digital evidence will be sent to the Criminal Investigation Division for laboratory testing.
The person arrested in the case against him was brought before the competent prosecutor's office.
