Four people were arrested in the prefectures of Evros and Rodopi in two different cases involving a total of fourteen migrants in the country.

Police said yesterday afternoon, on the Ormenio-Ardanio highway, that the police had arrested a 40-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, because they had illegally transported five immigrants in car.

A few hours later, in Rodopi County, border guards on the Alexandroupolis-Komotini highway found another car traveling on the Alexandroupolis-Komotini highway. His driver, aware of the presence of the police, has developed his speed.

Near the village of Veliki, police found the vehicle that had been diverted from the road and overturned. It was found that his 37-year-old driver and the 26-year-old co-driver illegally transported nine illegal immigrants to the hinterland.

Two traffickers and nine immigrants were injured as a result of the road accident and were transferred to hospitals at the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis.

The arrested persons will be prosecuted, while the preparation of the preliminary trial for both cases will be entrusted to the departments of the border guards of Soufli and Sapon.
