Japan will begin negotiations with Greece to sell US-2 rescue aircraft as part of an agreement marking the country's first defense sale, reported Nikkei newspaper citing unnamed sources.
Greece has expressed interest in the purchase of amphibious aircraft from the Japanese ShinMaywa industry, costing about 10 billion yen each to replace dozens of old anti-aircraft planes fires, according to the newspaper. These Japanese planes will be equipped with water tanks before being sold in Greece.
