Notis Marias, President of GREECE – THE OTHER WAY and MEP, sent a letter to the President of the European Parliament Antonio Tayani on Monday (5/11) asking him to intervene with the Albanian authorities in order to hand over the Constantine Katsifas's body to his parents to be buried.
In detail, the letter from Mr Marie: "Brussels 11/11/2018
Mister President,
By written question of 29/10/2018, I denounced the brutal murder of the Greek expatriate Konstantinos Katsifas, on October 28, 1940, on the occasion of the national holiday organized by the Albanian police in the village of Vouliarates north of Epirus. Albanian Prime Minister Albion Edi Rama has politically covered this murderous action of the Albanian police. It is also noted that the Albanian authorities continued their efforts by lowering the Greek flag at Vouliarates on 28 October, while the proud Greek national minority celebrated the resistance of the Greek people against Italian fascism.
We have repeatedly denounced before the European Parliament that the Albanian authorities were committing systematic and brutal violations of the rights of the Greek minority in Northern Epirus, destroying churches, seizing property and terrorizing it, violating international conventions relating to human rights and the Corfu Protocol of 1914. Autonomy of Northern Epirus.
Nine days have already pbaded since the badbadination of Constantine Katsifa and, despite the constant demands of his family, the Albanian authorities refuse to hand over his murdered body to his parents for him to be buried.
In this letter, Mr President, I ask your immediate address to the Albanian authorities to hand over Constantine Katsifa's body to her parents for burial.
I also request your immediate intervention to put an end to the brutal repression of the Greek minority of northern Epirus by Albania.
cordially
Notis Marias
MEP ".
