A New Zealand hostess visited the parks on August 12 and when she returned home she was diagnosed with measles. It is unclear when she learned about her illness, but she was infected at the time of her visit to Disneyland and so was probably contagious as well.
As it is possible that the girl was infected at the time of her visit, it is possible that other guests were exposed and could develop the disease and transmit it also. The Disneyland and Disney California Adventure guests do not need to be alarmed, just warned.
"We were informed that the tourist had visited several sites in Southern California and that the Orange County Health Agency had informed us that the risk incurred by the actors and guests was probably low" said Liz Jaeger, Director of External Communications for Disneyland Resort.
According to officials, it is also possible that guests at the Desert Palms Hotel in Anaheim, located at 631 West Katella Avenue, have also been exposed since the teenager stayed at this hotel from August 11-15.
